Trailer

Synopsis

Who is actually insane here?

The inner story of the 1920 expressionist silent film classic revolves around the sinister Dr. Caligari. By day, he presents his attraction at a fair: a somnambulist named Cesare, completely under Dr. Caligari’s influence. Cesare predicts the future for the audience, foretelling Alan that he will soon die. That same night, the young man is murdered. Alan’s friend Francis suspects the enigmatic Dr. Caligari of being behind the crime. When Francis’ fiancée Jane is abducted by Cesare, his suspicions seem confirmed. Francis chases Dr. Caligari, eventually finding him at a mental asylum and discovering that Caligari is the asylum's director. At this point, the narrative shifts, and the story restarts from a new perspective. The audience is left with a revelation that casts everything in a new light, posing the question: Who is truly insane here?

The Score

EA century-old film meets a contemporary musical concept: on:stop:off combines acoustic and electronic instruments live, manipulating them with effects to match the film’s dynamic storyline. This creates an intense and gripping atmosphere. While viewing habits may have evolved, the themes and motifs of this story remain as relevant as ever. Our modern soundtrack highlights the timelessness of this expressionist classic.
